July TBR

July is here! The month of fireworks, hot dogs, and way too many dads in American flag shorts. Throw in a dash of existential crisis about if we can be truly proud to be Americans at this moment, and you have yourself a killer recipe for Independence Day 2018!

As far as literary celebrations go, I feel like the beginning of every month is a little holiday in its own right. The day I curate and announce my TBR feels like watching a beautiful firework erupt into glittery sparks. It feels like waking up on Christmas. It feels like opening up a ginormous bag of Halloween candy and cheering because you managed to get thirty-two Kit Kats and only one neighbor handed out pencils.

My TBR last month was smallish, and the amount of books I actually made it through was even smaller. On the bright side, I really enjoyed my time! I took some books slowly, and I enjoyed the finer aspects of life that don’t include books (I know, I didn’t believe those existed either).

However, my friends, it is a fresh month, and if you’ve known me for a minute, you’ll know that I love nothing more than a crazy, high-stakes, stacked-to-the-ceiling TBR. I have, once again, returned to what I like to call my Bookish Behemoth, my Tyrannosaurus TBR, my Literary Leviathan.

This month, I’m continuing a few series, doing a reread or two, and getting some seriously stale, unread books off of their dusty shelves. Capping out at seventeen books, I’m taking bets now as to how long it takes before I throw at least a third of this stack out of the figurative window.

What are you reading this month? What book are you most looking forward to? Let me know in the comments below!

  • By Light We Knew Our Names – Anne Valente
